Abstract

Abstract (English)

Shampoo is a cosmetic preparation used to cleanse the hair and scalp. The use of natural ingredients in shampoo formulations has gained increasing interest due to their perceived safety and lower risk of side effects. One natural ingredient with potential application is mango fruit (Mangifera indica L.), which is known to contain bioactive compounds such as flavonoids and polypHenols. This study aimed to formulate a shampoo containing mango fruit extract with varying concentrations of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and to evaluate the physical properties of the resulting formulations. Mango fruit extract was obtained using the maceration method with 96% ethanol as the solvent. The shampoo was formulated into three formulations with Sodium Lauryl Sulfate concentrations of 5%, 7.5%, and 10%. Evaluation of pHysical properties included organoleptic testing, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, foam height, and foam stability. The results showed that all formulations produced homogeneous and physically stable shampoo preparations, with pH values suitable for the scalp, viscosity within the standard range for shampoos, and foam height and stability that met the required criteria. Variations in Sodium Lauryl Sulfate concentration provided good pHysical quality across all shampoo formulations.
