Abstract
Buah jambu tangkalak (Bellucia pentamera Naudin) memiliki efek antibakteri dengan metabolit sekunder seperti alkaloid, flavonoid, tanin, saponin, dan terpenoid. Penelitian ini menguji daya hambat ekstrak etanol buah jambu tangkalak terhadap bakteri Streptococcus mutans dan konsentrasi berapa ekstrak etanol jambu tangkalak memiliki daya hambat terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Streptococcus mutans. Metode difusi dengan melihat ada atau tidaknya zona hambat yang terbentuk oleh zat antimikroba dengan waktu tertentu pada masa inkubasi menggunakan cakram kertas saring (paper disc) untuk menampung zat antimikroba dan media NA. Dari hasil penelitian konsentrasi 10%, 20, 30% dan kontrol positif memiliki kategori zona hambat yang kuat terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri streptococcus mutans. Disimpulkan adanya daya hambat ekstrak buah jambu tangkalak (bellucia pentamera naudin) terhadap pertumubuhan streptococcus mutans dan pada konsentrasi 10, 20, dan 30% memiliki daya hambat terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri streptococcus mutans.
Abstract (English)
Tangkalak guava fruit (Bellucia pentamera Naudin) has antibacterial effects with secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and terpenoids. This study tests the inhibition of ethanol extract of tangkalak guava fruit against Streptococcus mutans bacteria and what concentration of ethanol extract of tangkalak guava has inhibition against the growth of Streptococcus mutans bacteria. Diffusion method by looking at the presence or absence of inhibition zones formed by antimicrobial substances with a certain time during the incubation period using filter paper discs (paper disc) to accommodate antimicrobial substances and NA media. From the results of the study, concentrations of 10%, 20, 30% and positive control had a strong inhibition zone category against the growth of streptococcus mutans bacteria. It is concluded that there is inhibition of tangkalak guava fruit extract (bellucia pentamera naudin) against the growth of streptococcus mutans and at concentrations of 10, 20, and 30% have inhibition against the growth of streptococcus mutans bacteria.
