Abstract

Abstract (English)

Antipyretic activity test of ethanol extract of agarwood leaves (Aquilaria malaccensis L) has been conducted on male white mice (Mus musculus L) induced by 5% peptone. Fever is a condition where the body temperature rises above normal temperature. This study aims to determine the antipyretic activity of ethanol extract of agarwood leaves against male white mice (Mus musculus L) induced by 5% peptone and at what dose ethanol extract of agarwood leaves has antipyretic activity. Mice are measured initial body temperature using an infrared thermometer in the rectal mice. Mice were induced with 5% peptone solution subcutaneously, then after an increase in rectal temperature ≥ 0.6oC (fever), mice were treated with test solutions orally, namely 1% NaCMC suspension (negative control), 65 mg/kgBB paracetamol suspension and agarwood leaf ethanol extract solution at doses of 150 mg/kgBB, 200 mg/kgBB and 250 mg/kgBB. Then measured rectaltemperature at minutes 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, 210 and 240. The results showed that ethanol extract of agarwood leaves with doses of 150 mg / kgBB, 200 mg / kgBB and 250 mg / kgBB had antipyretic activity as shown by statistical results where all test groups had significant differences from the negative control group (p <0.05) with the percentage of antipyretic activity respectively 87.14%; 92.21% and 95.97%.
