Abstract
Abstract (English)
Antipyretic activity test of ethanol extract of simpur leaves (Dillenia suffruticosa) has been conducted on male white mice (Mus musculus L.) induced by 5% peptone. Fever is a disease characterised by an increase in temperature above normal. This study aims to determine the antipyretic activity of ethanol extract of simpur leaves (Dillenia suffruticosa) against male white mice (Mus musculus L) induced by 5% peptone and at what dose ethanol extract of simpur leaves provides effective antipyretic activity against male white mice. Mice were induced with 5% peptone solution, until there was an increase in rectal temperature ≥ 0.60C, the study was conducted using 5 test groups orally. Then the rectal temperature was
measured using an infrared thermometer at 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, 210, and 240 minutes. The results showed that the positive control and ethanol extract of simpur leaves at a dose of 75 mg/KgBB, 150 mg/KgBB and 300 mg/KgBB had a significant difference to the negative control (p<0.05) with the percentage of positive control antipyretic power of 108.33%, and ethanol extract of simpur leaves respectively 45.23%; 93.80%; and 107.73%, which showed the percentage of antipyretic power closest to the positive control was at a dose of 300 mg/KgBB which was 107.73%.
