Abstract

Abstract (English)

ever is an increase in body temperature due to the production of prostaglandins in the hypothalamus. This study aims to determine the antipyretic activity and determine the dose that provides antipyretic activity of ethanol extract of buni leaves (Antidesma bunius L.) in male white mice (Mus musculus L.) induced by 5% peptone. A total of 15 mice were divided into five treatment groups, namely the negative control group (Na.CMC 0.5%), the positive control group (paracetamol 65 mg/kgBB), and three treatment groups each given ethanol extract of buni leaves at doses of 50, 75, and 100 mg/kgBB. After measuring the initial temperature, mice were induced fever subcutaneously using 5% peptone. If there was an increase in body temperature ≥0.6°C, then the test solution was given orally and the temperature was measured again for 4 hours every 30 minutes using a DT-8826 infrared thermometer. Based on the results of the study, all groups that received the extract showed a significant decrease in body temperature compared to the negative control group (p<0.05), indicating that buni leaf extract at doses of 50, 75, and 100 mg/kgBB has activity in reducing fever. The percentage of body temperature reduction shows antipyretic activity sequentially by 45.93%; 44.44%; and 40%. These results indicate that the ethanol extract of buni leaves has potential as an antipyretic.
