Abstract
Abstract (English)
Orange peel sambal contains antioxidants such as flavonoids, polyphenols, and steroids that can protect nails from oxidation and help maintain moisture, making it suitable for use in the formulation of nailcare creams. This study aims to test the moisture capacity of nailcare cream preparations with active ingredients of methanol fraction of sambal orange peel (Citrus amblycarpa) using the gravimetric method. The methanol fraction was obtained through the maceration and fractionation process of sambal orange peel simplicia. The Nailcare cream formula contains active ingredients in concentrations of 0.1%, 0.2%, and 0.3%. Evaluation of moisture retention was carried out by incubating the preparation at 37°C for 72 hours and measuring weight changes before and after incubation. The results showed that all formulas were able to maintain moisture with moisture retention values (%Rr) of 59.91% (F1), 66.41% (F2), and 68.61% (F3), and weight loss values (%WL) of 36.3%, 32.75%, and 31.7%. Formula F3 showed the best results with the highest moisture retention ability and the lowest water loss. The conclusion of this study is that the methanol fraction of sambal orange peel has the potential as an active moisturizing ingredient in nailcare cream preparations.
